Almost 1000 volunteers will help to ensure the safe and successful running of the Formula One British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend (14-16 July).

Medical personnel, scrutineers and officials will join hundreds of marshals working trackside at the most high-profile event on the UK motorsport calendar, with roles ranging from post chief to sweeper car driver.

Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive, said: “While the eyes of the world may be on the drivers and teams, our volunteers are the unsung heroes at the heart of British motorsport. The British Grand Prix and the 5000 other motorsport events that take place every year couldn’t run without them and I would like to thank each and every one for their time and dedication.”

There has been a 48 per cent increase in the number of MSA-registered marshals since December 2015, rising from 6082 to 8994. This year the MSA has sent over 8,000 registered marshals a welcome pack comprising an MSA-branded tabard, flask, whistle, hand warmer, pens and a ‘thank you’ card.

Volunteers get to go behind-the-scenes at events and join a community of 10,000 like-minded enthusiasts. People can find out how to get involved here.
