Parker takes Car Trial championship opener

Barrie Parker drove faultlessly in atrocious conditions that nearly forced the cancellation of the Golden Springs Car Trial, the opening round of the MSA British Car Trial Championship.

Parker led from the offset over the 20 hills, in conditions that suited his car perfectly to win his class by 97 points from Nigel Weeks. Shawn Franklin battled hard to take second overall, with front-wheel-drive Wayne Grimshaw in third.
