Our new programme aims to inspire and invite the next generation of female talent into motorsport– it’s fun, girls only and family friendly.
The future of motorsport is changing, no more so than with the launch of Netflix’s newest series, F1: The Academy set to inspire and break the barriers around women joining the grid in one of the most demanding and male-dominated sports enjoyed by thousands.
Following its launch during the Easter holidays across the country, introducing around 400 8-12 year old girls to motorsport, there are now even more oppportunities for girls to try out karting during May and October Half Term.
What to expect at a Taster day…
During nationwide taster days, girls will get behind the wheel in TeamSport’s arrive and drive karts for three-on track practices and completed two hours of fun activities, testing competence and skills off the track.
This initiative is supported by the award-winning global luxury makeup, skincare and fragrance brand, Charlotte Tilbury, empowering females in motorsport.
Participants will also have the chance to follow in the footsteps of F1 Academy Charlotte Tilbury driver Chloe Chong, as they begin their karting journey – boosting female participation on the grid.
What happens next…
Girls can start their karting journey, through a series of after-school sessions at TeamSport, designed to equip them with the skills and techniques to progress in junior karting.
Girls who have enjoyed a holiday taster session now have opportunity to learn and progress through Motorsport UK’s Karting pathway, by joining the Girls Karting Academy TeamSport Race Academy – run over five weekly sessions after school, designed to equip them with the skills and techniques and confidence to progress and compete in junior karting.
Further progression…
There is then the opportunity to continue learning in the TeamSport mixed gender Race Academy (also run after school) and then take on the challenge of progressing into the Motorsport UK British Indoor Kart Championship (BIKC), by setting a qualifying time at a regional TeamSport venue before competing in the national championships at Warrington.
Successful competitors at BIKC level will have the chance to win a place in the Club100 National Championships in 2026, held at outdoor kart circuits around the UK. For more information on the British Indoor Karting Championships, qualification process and eligibility criteria visit www.bikc.co.uk
There is also the chance to win one of two fully-funded Girls Karting Academy Scholarship seats for this championship, one of which is funded by Charlotte Tilbury.
