From 2026, it is a requirement for all Sprint & Hill Climb competitors in modified and above categories to wear a flameproof balaclava. While it is not the ultimate responsibility for Marshals to check competitor Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), we wanted to make you aware that this rule change is in effect should you be Marshalling in paddock or start line areas. Competitors always take final responsibility for ensuring their PPE is in accordance with the regulations, and you should report any instances of non-compliance to your area/Post Chief or directly with the Scrutineers and/or Clerk of the Course.
