About Us

The 750 Motor Club was formed in 1939 with the aim of providing a racing outlet for owners of Austin Sevens. The long-standing editor of MotorSport magazine, Bill Boddy was among those who helped launch 750MC and he remained President of the Club until his death in 2011, at the age of 98. Legendary racing car design Tony Southgate succeeded him in the position.

The first series devised was 750 Formula in 1949 for two-seater sports racing cars using the Austin Seven engine – and today it is the oldest continuously-running championship in the world, with the engine since updated to use Reliant and more recently Fiat powerplants.

Alongside, the Club’s racing portfolio has since evolved to include a huge variety of formulae; indeed 2020 sees 23 different options available from single seaters to hot hatchbacks and endurance offerings, and selected race meetings now feature live-streamed video coverage.

The 750 Motor Club ethos however always remains the same - affordable motorsport - featuring large grids, plentiful competitor benefits and the best family-friendly paddock atmosphere available. Whether the drive to reduce costs comes via forming a championship for a new cost-effective tin-top, or pioneering an equality switch from engine capacity limits to power-to-weight classes (and investing in a mobile rolling road to enforce it), the Club’s aim has always to bring the enjoyment of motorsport to as many as possible.
