Gary Kelly is the first winner of the StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship, awarded at the first round of the event held at Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club on 19 April.

Created by Motorsport UK in partnership with Loughborough Car Club, the scholarship aims to make the sport more accessible for disabled participants, drawing on the success of the StreetCar initiative – celebrating grassroots motorsport opportunities for all.

Eight drivers underwent a series of regulatory tests to win a fully funded season of AutoSOLOs and access to an adapted car at either Maidstone and Mid Kent Car Club, the Sporting Car Club of Norfolk or Loughborough Car Club.

Kelly comments, “The best day ever. The most fun day. If you are in a chair with any disability. Just go for it!”

The final scholarship day will take place at Loughborough Car Club on 23 May (Coalville Rugby Club).
