Esports is the most accessible kind of motorsport and the cheapest way to get started. You can compete in any vehicle, at anytime, anywhere. All you need is a gaming device – such as a computer, Playstation, Xbox, or mobile device – and your chosen motorsport game.
The pinnacle of esports are the professional level championships, such as Formula 1 Esports, 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual and the eWorld Rally Championship. On a national level, Motorsport UK runs esports series based on British F4, the British Karting, and British Rally Championships.
Motorsport UK recognises esports as a key entry point into the sport and is aligning itself with the FIA’s Esports Commission working groups and assisting with the Esports Sporting Code. Esports is becoming an essential part of the Motorsport UK Academy by offering practical hands-on exercises for students and coaches to hone their skills utilising the state of the art simulators at Motorsport UK’s Bicester headquarters.
Motorsport UK will be announcing their esports strategy in the coming months.
