After the 2021 FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars shoot-out last week (23-24 October), Britain’s Jessica Edgar made it to the final eight in the senior category.

Jessica was one of 28 of the world’s most talented 10-16-year-old drivers on the momentous journey of the demanding training and selection process that will ultimately see just one driver chosen to participate in an international karting season, with financial support from the Ferrari Driver Academy.

The 14 junior and senior drivers participated in simultaneous shoot-outs at the Winfield Racing School in Le Castellet. At the end of intense sessions, only eight of the 14 aspiring drivers in their respective class continued to the training camp stage a few days later, including Jessica. But under the watchful eye of six jury members, just four girls in each category made it through to attend the final in Maranello, Italy, next month.

Motorsport UK Academy driver Jessica flew the flag for Britain in the senior category at the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme alongside Skye Parker and Macie Hitter in the junior class.

“It is always a pleasure to see such commitment and determination from our young racers and to witness how much they have absorbed and developed over such an intense period,” said Michéle Mouton, President of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission. “Congratulations to all the drivers who attended and to the eight heading to their final Scouting Camps; it is an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them to impress the Ferrari Driver Academy.”

Julia Ayoub (Brazil), Victoria Blokhina (Russia), Laura Camps Torras (Spain) and Clarissa Dervic (Spain) complete the senior category and will embark on the Formula 4 Scouting Camp on 9-13 November. Chiara Bättig (Switzerland), Maria Germano Neto (Portugal), Ivanna Richards (Mexico) and Milla Sjöstrand (Sweden) are the final four competing in the Junior Kart Scouting Camp from 22-26 November.
