Up to Speed: 18 – 19 December 2021

With Christmas on the horizon, Extreme E heads to Bovington, Dorset this weekend for the penultimate weekend of competitive action.

Here’s all the information you need to get up to speed before the fleet of ODYSSEY 21s hit the track:

Extreme E – Jurassic X-Prix, UK

Rosberg vs. Hamilton? Don’t worry, you haven’t time-travelled back to 2016 – this time the former Mercedes Formula 1 team-mates are going to head-to-head with their respective teams in pursuit of Extreme E’s inaugural crown.

The international off-road racing series has broken down barriers in sustainability and EV usage worldwide since the action kicked off in the Alula desert of Saudi Arabia back in April, with further events in Senegal, Greenland and Sardinia, Italy.

Rosberg’s RXR team have led the standings throughout and arrive at Bovington 21 points clear of Hamilton’s X44 operation, the two outfits running driver pairings Johan Kristofferson/Molly Taylor and Cristina Gutierrez/Sebastian Loeb respectively.

The battle for third in the standings is equally as hard-fought, with Andretti United Extreme E and Jenson Button’s JBXE teams split by a single point with a maximum of 42 on the table this weekend.

The course itself is situated at the British Ministry of Defence base at Bovington in Dorset, part of the world-famous Jurassic coastline, with a mixed surface of clay, sand, gravel, and mud – lack of grip will be a key feature this weekend, especially with the ever-present threat of the Great British weather!
