Welcome to the latest weekend review, where we look back at some of the motorsport action throughout the UK and overseas on Saturday and Sunday.

Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship – Round 10 at Brands Hatch 

It was a victorious weekend for Ash Sutton, who claimed the 2021 British Touring Car Championship win at Brands Hatch. Sutton managed to hold onto the top spot of the driver standings since the second BTCC event back in June. Briton’s Colin Turkington secured his position as 2021 vice-champion, with Josh Cook speeding ahead in Race Two to collect those crucial points to move him up into the top three in the championship standings.

F4 British Championship certified by FIA – Rounds 28, 29 & 30 at Brands Hatch 

Young Brit Matthew Rees claimed the 2021 F4 British Championship win in the final round at Brands Hatch. He secured the final points throughout the race weekend to confidently secure the championship win, with fellow teammate and British driver McKenzy Creswell putting on a stellar performance with a win in Race Two. Congratulations to Matthew Rees on the F4 British Championship win!

With the conclusion of the 2021 championship, Motorsport UK officially transitions into the role of championship organisers. More announcements about the 2022 F4 British Championship are coming soon.

British Sprint Championship – Round 10 at Castle Combe

Terry Holmes recorded a double top 12 run-off win at the final round of the 2021 British Sprint Championship at Castle Combe, gaining the points needed to work his way up the standings. With Steve Miles’ championship win secured at the previous round in Anglesey, this event was an excellent opportunity for the competitors to develop their driving skills and beat their PBs.

British Historic Rally Championship – Carlisle Stages Rally

Alongside co-driver Cliffy Simmons, Ben Friend, became the 2021 Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Champions after a sensational run at the Carlisle Stages Rally this weekend. In the third test, the pair managed to take the lead in their Ford Escort MK2 from Simon Webster and Jez Rogers.

The British Historic Rally Championship will return next year, with more announcements expected in the next few months. Stay tuned to the website for the latest news.

Scottish Rally Championship – Carlisle Stages Rally 

The 2021 Scottish Rally Championship win was decided this past weekend, with Jock Armstrong and co-driver Cammy Fair going head-to-head with Garry Pearson and co-driver Niall Burns at the Carlisle Rally Stages. After taking on the challenging course, Pearson and Burns take the championship win, with Jock and Cammy facing engine failure in the final stage.

Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship 

With the conclusion of the Asphalt Rally Championship taking place on Sunday (24 October), Jason Pritchard and Phil Clarke were declared championship winners for the third time. The pair headed into the final event third in the standings but scored maximum championship points, even after skidding off the road in SS3!

Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix 2021 

Max Verstappen took pole position and the win at the United States Grand Prix, with British driver Lewis Hamilton lining up alongside him on the grid and taking the checkered flag in P2. Twelve points now sit between Hamilton and the championship lead, with a handful of races remaining.

Motorsport UK Academy alumnus Lando Norris finished in the top ten, with the driver moving down a place in the standings. However, only one championship point is needed for Norris to claim his previous position in the driver standings and get ahead of Sergio Perez. Fellow Motorsport UK alumnus and British driver George Russell finished the race at the Circuit of the Americas in fifteenth position.

Formula 1 heads to Mexico for the Mexico Grand Prix (5th-7th November).

W Series – Round 7 at Circuit of the Americas

Girls on Track UK ambassador and Motorsport UK Academy Team UK driver Jamie Chadwick took the 2021 Championship at the double-header finale at Circuit of the Americas, becoming a two-time W Series champion. It was a close battle between Chadwick and Alice Powell, who was the only driver that could deny the Veloce Racing driver the back-to-back championship title. However, a light to flag victory and fastest lap from Chadwick closed the door against her fierce rival.
