Playing a more strategic role
The Motor Sports Council has changed from being a rule making body. It now plays a more strategic role, focusing on the development and future of motorsport in the UK, providing guidance to the Board and the Executive. With this in mind, Council membership will be expanding in size to incorporate a wider representation from all elements of the motorsport community. The existing representation of the various motorsport disciplines will continue via the Committee Chairs (see below) who sit on Council, as well as the Regional Committee representatives of the clubs and the community. The Council is led by an independent Chair, and meets twice per year, with a prospective additional meeting that will form part of an annual members conference for the sport.
Applications are sought from some or all of the following new areas:
- Venues – various by discipline
- Commercial promoters
- Engineering community – e.g. design, manufacturing, testing
- Drivers and co drivers – from grass roots to professional
- Motorsport teams – representing the spectrum of the sport
- Commercial Karting – indoor/ outdoor
- Track Days/Experience Days
- Single make Marque Clubs
- Commercial/Marketing/Comms/ New Media in sport
- Education sector and institutions
If you operate in any of these areas, we would like to hear from you, as we seek a broader engagement with the motorsport community, and a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities for motorsport in the UK. These roles are purely voluntary; however, expenses will be paid to cover travel to and from council meetings. The appointments are initially for up to three years.
How to apply – If you are committed to helping motorsport, and feel you can make a contribution to Council, we would like to hear from you. All we need is a CV of your relevant experience, together with a covering letter outlining your ideas for the future of UK motorsport and how you can assist in the delivery of our goal to ensure the sustainable future of motorsport.
All applications must be e-mailed to Andrea.Richards@motorsportuk.org and be received by Sunday 30th June 2019. All applications will be acknowledged. Please mark clearly the role for which you are applying.
