What is StreetCar Festival…
Keen to get involved in grassroots motorsport? Not sure where to start?! Come along to our first StreetCar Festival on 8 September, explore our Bicester Motion home and bring the family – there’s something for everyone to enjoy…
What is StreetCar?
Launched in 2022, StreetCar was created to demonstrate that motorsport is affordable and accessible to all, encouraging more people to get behind the wheel and enjoy the sport. There are now 67 clubs that are part of the StreetCar community across the country.
The programme provides the opportunity to take part in a variety of disciplines, including Autotest, Rally and Trials and Cross Country events. From Treasure Hunts to Navigational Rally and Historic Rally events, all 12 disciplines can be enjoyed with a standard unmodified road car. A free valid RS Clubman licence is required and the standard vehicle must be unmodified.
Why are we holding a StreetCar Festival?
StreetCar will this year hold its own dedicated festival at our Bicester Motion home, inviting StreetCar club members, car club members and anyone interested in finding out more to come along and try out grassroots motorsport for themselves. The festival will provide an opportunity for exchange, to get behind the wheel and will enable the UK StreetCar community to get together.
In addition, this will provide the opportunity for those willing to explore volunteering and other roles, such as navigating, to tap into our existing knowledge base.
The event will have a variety of opportunities to explore the disciplines on offer: an AutoSolo will take place on Hangar Green, there will be a ‘punch hunt’ on the 4X4 course to the side of the grass airfield and we are encouraging clubs to come along and have a presence. Two local clubs, Oxford and South Oxon will be running the AutoSolo Taster and Touring Assembly respectively.
There will be fun to be had for all the family, with a range of food trucks, coffee and cake, and car club stalls for everyone to enjoy.
Who can get involved?
Attendees aged 12-years-of-age and above can take part in a StreetCar discipline in a navigational role, with attendees aged 14-years-of-age and above able to compete in an AutoSOLO.
Is it free to attend?
The event is ticketed, with a range of perks included depending on the ticket and add-ons that you decide to buy. Under 14s go free, but must be accompanied by an adult.
To compete in any of the disciplines, you will need to pay for this separately as an ‘add on’, however, you can decide to sign up and pay on the day as well as in advance.
Where can I find out more?
Keep an eye on our dedicate StreetCar Facebook and Instagram pages, in addition to the StreetCar website as we reveal the programme and activities for the day.
