About Us


The Cross Country Committee advises on matters affecting the conduct and organisation of all disciplines relating to Cross Country including Hill Rallies, Competitive Safaris, Promotional Events, Cross Country Vehicle Time Trials, Winch Recovery etc consistent with the development of the sport. To consider the clarity and impact of changes to the National Competition Rules taking particular account of the potential implications across different disciplines. To incorporate within the meeting strategic planning.

| Chair | Rupert Hine | Rupert is based in Scotland and has over 30 years’ involvement in Cross Country motorsport. A former Trials competitor and Hill Rally navigator, he now marshals, officiates and organises Hill Rallies and Competitive Safaris. He runs a cross-country Rescue Unit and Fire Tender, and chairs the Scottish Hill Rally Club. |

| Toby Cox | Toby has been involved in off-road motorsport for over 30 years, starting in trials with the Cornwall and Devon Land Rover Club before progressing to time trials and competitive safaris with the AWDC, where he remains an active competitor. He also serves as Clerk of the Course and supports the sport’s technical and regulatory development. | |
| Charles Darby | Charles began competing in the late 1970s and moved into off-road events in 1983. A Motorsport UK Scrutineer since 1996, he has competed, officiated and clerked across multiple disciplines, including trials and competitive safari. He is President of the ALRC and remains active in rally and historic events. | |

| Guy Nicholls | Guy has worked in motorsport for over 30 years, beginning in commercial roles with Autosport, Motorsport News, Motor Sport and F1 Racing before joining A1 Grand Prix. He later moved into sporting and operational roles and is now London-based as Head of Sporting for the FIA Extreme H World Cup. | |

| Tim Pink | Tim is based in Mid Wales and has over 40 years’ involvement in Cross Country Motorsport with several clubs. He has competed in Trials and Competitive Safaris and built competition vehicles commercially and personally. A qualified Health & Safety and Environmental professional, he champions innovation and engaging younger generations. | |

| Regional Committee Representative | Kevin Dawson | Kevin is Co-Vice Chair of the Association of North East and Cumbria Car Clubs, representing the Association on the Regional and Cross Country Committees. A Motorsport UK Steward since 1990, he has officiated to international level across multiple disciplines, with extensive experience in rallying, including the Roger Albert Clark Rally. |
