Silverstone Festival – A Bank Holiday Bonanza!

Wednesday 20 August 2025

More than 700 race entries across 20 of the finest retro race grids will make this bank holiday weekend’s Silverstone Festival one of the biggest gatherings of Motorsport UK licence holders anywhere on the calendar.

This year’s packed programme features Europe’s premier historic racing series, organised by Motor Racing Legends, Masters Historic Racing, and the Historic Sports Car Club.

Celebrating what many call the sport’s golden era, the line-up covers all the great chapters of F1, GT, Touring, and sportscar racing – from iconic DFV-powered Formula 1 machines to a star-studded field of thundering V8 American muscle cars of the 1960s. Among those putting pedals to the metal are Sir Chris Hoy, Chris Harris, Matt Neal, Steve Soper, Jake Hill, Guy Smith and Jan Magnussen.

Silverstone, the site of the very first points-scoring Formula 1 race in 1950, will mark the 75th anniversary of that historic milestone at the 2025 Festival. Fans can look forward to four epic races for yesteryear’s F1 cars on the Grand Prix circuit as well as the World Champions Collection, an extraordinary display in the International Paddock.

The race card includes four evocative Grand Prix showdowns and a special feature for 500cc F3 cars – the pint-sized machines that served as the only support race back in 1950. A record-breaking grid of more than 50 of these bike-engined racers will recreate the magic on Sunday.

The World Champions Collection will honour all 34 Formula 1 title-winners, from Giuseppe Farina to Max Verstappen. Offering a remarkable timeline of F1’s evolution over 75 years, the display will showcase cars raced by each champion – most of them the very machines in which the titles were clinched.

It will also highlight the tremendous success of British drivers with no fewer than ten of those 34 title winners hailing from these shores.

Beyond the racing action, the Festival promises plenty of holiday fun for the whole family, with a Foodie Fest, funfair, fan zones, stunt displays and live music across all three evenings. More than 100 car clubs will also bring thousands of cherished classics, filling Silverstone with a sea of automotive history and enthusiasm.

Adding to the spectacle and encouraging more to get actively involved, car clubs are invited to take part in a Club Challenge AutoSOLO, organised in partnership with Motorsport UK’s StreetCar initiative and the Middlesex County Automobile Club. This unique competition will see attending clubs go head-to-head, battling for the honour of being crowned the fastest car club at Silverstone Festival. Let the competition commence!
