Motorsport UK has reaffirmed its commitment to the motorsport community with the launch of its Safeguarding Strategy for 2026–2030. The strategy shines a spotlight on the ongoing dedication of Motorsport UK, its Safeguarding Team, and the passionate network of Club Safeguarding Officers, all working together to keep the sport safe, supportive, and welcoming for everyone.
Safeguarding plays a vital role in ensuring motorsport remains safer, fair and welcoming for everyone. It provides a clear route for anyone in the community to raise concerns if they believe someone may be at risk, ensuring those concerns are handled sensitively and with the right support in place.
The strategy reinforces Motorsport UK’s commitment to protecting our community across the sport – particularly children and adults at risk – while supporting clubs, Club Safeguarding Officers, other volunteers and officials to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns.
Supporting a safer and welcoming motorsport community
Motorsport is powered by people – from competitors and volunteers to clubs and families. Ensuring those people feel safer and supported is essential to the future of the sport. The Safeguarding Strategy is an important step in delivering Motorsport UK’s wider Vision 2030 mission to get more people enjoying motorsport, more often.
Over the next five years, the strategy will focus on five key areas:
Culture – creating an environment where people feel confident to raise concerns early and know they will be supported.
Governance – ensuring strong leadership, oversight and accountability for safeguarding across the organisation.
Engagement – strengthening communication and support for clubs, volunteers and young people across the community.
Education – providing training and practical resources to help people understand safeguarding and how to apply it.
Compliance – maintaining clear standards, reporting processes and checks across events and roles.
Together, these priorities will help ensure safeguarding remains embedded across the sport — supporting clubs, protecting participants the community, whilst also strengthening confidence in the sport.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
While strong systems and policies are important, creating a safe environment relies on the whole community.
From competitors and officials to volunteers and organisers, everyone involved in motorsport should feel confident to raise a concern if they believe someone may be at risk.
By strengthening safeguarding across the sport, Motorsport UK aims to ensure motorsport continues to be a place where people feel safer, supported and proud to belong.
