Formula 4 Joins Star-Studded British Grand Prix Line-Up
The 2025 Wera Tools F4 British Championship is set to join Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 at Silverstone as the circuit celebrates the 75th anniversary of the inaugural FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2025, first staged there in 1950.
Making more history, this will mark the first occasion where all three FIA single-seater feeder series share the racecard during a Formula 1 weekend. Two non-championship races are included in the packed schedule, with most teams running drivers who are yet to cut their teeth in the championship this season.
These two very special showdowns give a new wave of young drivers the chance to shine on the biggest stage of the UK racing calendar, as potential Formula 1 stars of the future. It’s worth noting that current F1 title contenders Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both count British F4 victories among their early career highlights.
Action kicks off on Friday 4 July at 17:45 with a single practice session, followed by qualifying at 07:55 on Saturday 5 July. After Formula 1 qualifying later that afternoon, British F4 will take to the track for its first 25-minute plus one lap race at 16:45, broadcast live on Sky Sports Mix.
The second race will open Sunday’s proceedings on 6 July, with the lights going out at 08:20. This unmissable contest will be shown live on Sky Sports F1. Both races will also be available for fans to watch via the British Championship’s official YouTube channel.
Although no championship points will be awarded in these high profile races, the mid-season standings provide a strong indication of form. Jimmy Piszcyk and Thomas Bearman — younger brother of F1 racer Ollie Bearman — each secured a victory last time out at Oulton Park. However, Red Bull-backed Fionn McLaughlin leads the standings after 15 of 30 races, holding a slender 5.5-point advantage over 16-year-old Hungarian prospect Martin Molnár. Both have 2025 victories under their belts and are strong favourites for further successes at Silverstone, though competition is fierce with no fewer nine different drivers having claimed wins so far in 2025.
Highlighting the British series’ growing global stature as a proving ground for aspiring Formula 1 talent, the roster of further race winners reflects an international flavour: August Raber (Sweden), Adam Al Azhari (UAE), Leo Robinson (Algeria) and Salim Hanna (Colombia), have all stood atop the podium this season.
Several drivers will be eager to claim their first victory this weekend, including Motorsport UK Academy members Ella Lloyd and Henry Joslyn. Ella, part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme and Team UK, competes alongside Henry, who is enrolled in Futures Year 1. Rowan Campbell-Pilling, also part of the Motorsport UK Academy, represents Futures Year 2 on the grid.
In total, 26 talented teenagers will be chasing glory at Silverstone – all of them fully aware that a breakthrough F4 victory could be a pivotal step towards a coveted spot on the Formula 1 grid in years to come.
