Knockhill to host star-studded 50-year anniversary weekend
The 18 May 2025 marks 50 years to the day since Knockhill hosted its first car race meeting, and the Scottish circuit looks set to celebrate in style, welcoming over champion drivers who have featured at the Fife circuit during the last five decades.
The Fife circuit has plans for an eleven-race programme, including track parades and grid walk, interviews with star drivers, a recreation of the opening ceremony and track sessions for race cars from the 70s and 80s.
Over 60 champion drivers will be in attendance, including Edward Labinjoh from Edinburgh, who won the first ever car race in an Alfa Romeo and will return with a racing Alfa 75 to take part in track sessions.
Stuart Gray, Knockhill Director of Events, Knockhill, said, “We are honoured and delighted to have had such a response from the drivers who have featured so prominently over the years. Within the event, we are hosting a special British Touring Car feature with a super display of cars on show and on track that have played a huge part of Knockhill’s history. Alan Gow, the driving force of the BTCC , is one of the guests of honour, alongside twice champion John Cleland and three-time champion Gordon Shedden. Add in a special grid walk with 30 classic race cars and a recreation of the official opening ceremony from May 75, we truly believe it will be a walk into the past and stir so many racing and spectating memories for all attending.”
