The StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship is set to return, continuing its mission to make grassroots motorsport more accessible for disabled competitors across the UK.
Created by Loughborough Car Club in partnership with Motorsport UK, the Scholarship builds on the success of the StreetCar initiative by opening the door to AutoSOLO and Autotest competition in a supportive, inclusive club environment.
Each year, three Motorsport UK affiliated Clubs are provided with an adapted Toyota Yaris and host an assessment day to identify a successful Scholarship driver. The overall prize is a fully funded season, including use of the adapted car and free AutoSOLO entries for the year.
Over the past 12 months, Loughborough Car Club, Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club, and the Sporting Car Club of Norfolk have delivered the Scholarship. Loughborough Car Club will continue to host the programme in 2026, while Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club and the Sporting Car Club of Norfolk take a well-earned break.
Bristol Motor Club has been confirmed as the first new Club to join the Scholarship, with a further Club announcement coming soon.
How the Scholarship works
You can register your interest in the StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship now via the form at the end of this article. Entries will open soon.
Once registered, you’ll be contacted with details of upcoming assessment days, including dates and locations. These days are designed to give participants the opportunity to:
Experience an AutoSOLO in an adapted vehicle
Meet Club competitors and volunteers
Learn more about competing and being part of a local motorsport community
From each assessment day, two drivers will be selected. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges, with candidates assessed on factors such as commitment, attitude and progression — not speed or previous experience.
In total, six drivers will be awarded a fully funded season of AutoSOLOs and Autotests at a participating Motorsport UK affiliated Club, using the adapted Yaris.
The Scholarship proved to be another great success in 2025. Gary, a winner from Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club, said:
“Being in a car is my favourite place to be, and behind the wheel on track is just the best fun ever – especially with a group of like-minded people who are even crazier than I am. It was great to be able to bring my son along and see him enjoying it too.”
