Up to Speed: 6 – 7 August

Thursday 04 August 2022

With summer well in its stride, this upcoming weekend is packed full of grassroots motorsport events and a double header for the British Sprint Championships.

Let’s take a look and get up to speed with what is happening this weekend.

Around the Clubs

Each and every weekend, clubs up and down the country are hard at work, delivering a variety of motorsport disciplines and there is still plenty that you can discover.

The Dungannon Motor Club is holding a Production Car Autotest at Loughry College Campus in Cookstown.

If that’s not for you and you have a 4X4 that you want to test out then check out some Trials near you. This weekend, the North Wales Car Club is hosting the Cymru Trial, and the Aylesbury Landrover Fanatics Club has organised the Quainton RTV at Denham Farm.

The Grampian Automobile Club is holding the Fintray Hillclimb over the weekend and the Hexham & District Motor Club has organised the Roman 1900 Festival Tour for the weekend, starting at the National Discover Centre.

British Sprint Championship

The British Sprint Championship returns for a double-header as it heads to Kirkistown in Northern Ireland for rounds six and seven. This weekend will also mark the halfway point of the 2022 championship.

Currently sitting at the top of the championship is Graham Blackwell in his 1.6t Mygale Ecoboost who has had a very strong season. Blackwell currently stands nine points clear of his nearest rival. Stephen Miles has been pushing through to challenge the championship leader in his 2.0 Van Diemen RF96mm.

Owned by the 500 Motor Club (N.I), Kirkistown Circuit was opened in 1953 and has a length of 1.53 miles.
