12 Days of StreetCar this 2025 continued…
Affordable and Accessible
Motorsport doesn’t have to break the bank—just ask Bognor Regis Motor Club, where Autotests offer an exciting, low-cost entry point for aspiring drivers. For just a modest fee, participants can test their skills in a safe, controlled environment, learning precision and car control without the need for high-speed circuits or expensive machinery.
One rising star making the most of this opportunity is motor club member Rebecca Challis, who turned 16 this year. Helped by her Father Joel, Rebecca began her journey in Karting but quickly transitioned to Autotesting to sharpen her handling skills behind the wheel of a full-sized car. The format’s emphasis on agility and accuracy proved ideal for developing her technique.
Rebecca’s story is a testament to how grassroots motorsport can nurture talent without draining wallets. With clubs like the Bognor Regis Motor Club offering affordable, accessible events and a supportive community, the road to racing success is open to anyone with passion and drive.
StreetCar Celebrates National Motorsport Week
From celebrating 111 incredible events to showcasing how to get involved, we hope you enjoyed the 2025 edition of National Motorsport Week.
Running from the 10 to the 20 July, the 10-day campaign saw our StreetCar Clubs deliver 30 events and continue to encourage new people into the sport.
With many StreetCar Clubs across the UK organising events every week, there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved and start your own motorsport journey – all in your everyday road car!
Knutsford & District Motor Club Leading the Charge
In celebration of National Motorsport Week, Knutsford & District Motor Club (KDMC) hosted a free-to-enter Motorsport Taster Day, aimed at encouraging newcomers to try grassroots motorsport using their everyday road cars. The event was a fantastic success, drawing over 32 participants, many of which were experiencing motorsport for the first time. With a friendly atmosphere and plenty of smiling faces, seven attendees even signed up as full club members by the end of the day.
KDMC continues to lead by example with their innovative and welcoming approach, showcasing how accessible motorsport can be. The club runs a full calendar of events throughout the year, including popular AutoSOLOs, Autotests, the much-loved Tour of Cheshire, Knutsford Targa Rally and the Plains Rally. Beyond their own events, they also play a major role in supporting organisers and marshalling on events across the UK, such as Rali Ceredigion.
StreetCar Triumphant in National Class during ecoRally Scotland 2025
In the National Class, for ecoRally Scotland, it was another podium for the daring duo of James Hoyles and Iain Tuillie representing Ilkley and District Motor Club, defending their title in the ecoRally Scotland event for the second time in their Honda e:Ny1.
Motorsport UK’s StreetCar programme saw the winning regional talent of Sam Naylor and Iain Carr, placing second – truly going from StreetCar contender to FIA Rally driver in under six months, from the Scottish Sporting Car Club.
Iain Tuillie commented, “It’s great to see so many of the guys competing in the National Class during this weekend had done some of the StreetCar events, and one or two who hadn’t done any motorsport before, so it’s definitely caught people’s attention as a way to come and look at a new branch of the sport.”
Sam, who drove the Kia Niro, added, “We didn’t quite know what we were signing up for… we kind of took to it like ducks to water really! I wouldn’t say we did stellar…”
Southern Car Club Continues to Grow
Southern Car Club represent the values of StreetCar in everything they do creating a friendly, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere, combining exciting events with a welcoming social community, helping newcomers not only join but also stay engaged. This formula has seen membership rise dramatically over the last couple of years, going from nine new joiners in 2023 to 27 in 2024, and 45 in 2025!
This growth is no accident. Co-chair Andrew Hebron explained:
“We have strived to create a welcoming atmosphere where our existing members remember how they felt coming along for the first time and go out of their way to welcome newcomers.”
