Celebrating the very best of a thrilling year of UK motorsport, the 2025 Formula 1 British Grand Prix was crowned Event of the Year at Motorsport UK’s prestigious annual Night of Champions on Saturday 24th January 2026.
London’s Royal Automobile Club once again hosted the ceremony, honouring standout achievements across British motorsport. The 2025 celebration also marked the year Lando Norris became Britain’s eleventh Formula 1 World Champion – the first since Sir Lewis Hamilton secured his seventh title in 2020.
The Formula 1 British Grand Prix, held at the home of British motorsport – Silverstone, claimed the coveted Event of the Year award.
Silverstone hosted the very first round of the Formula 1 World Championship in 1950. 75 years later, 2025’s milestone Grand Prix broke attendance records, gathering 500,000 fans for a weekend packed with high octane action both on and off the track.
The judging panel praised the British Grand Prix for its 2025 innovations, including the debut of the dedicated ‘Landostand’ at Stowe Corner – already sold out for 2026 – and a historic race card featuring the full ladder of junior single seater categories: F4 British Championship, FIA Formula 3 and FIA Formula 2, all appearing on the same Grand Prix bill for the first time.
Responding to the award, Stuart Pringle OBE, Chief Executive Officer, Silverstone, said: “We’re delighted to receive this award, which is a testament to many years of hard work focused on continually enhancing the experience for our fans. We’re proud of the innovations we’ve introduced to create a truly unique event for the thousands who join us every July. With four days of world-class racing complemented by a stellar entertainment line-up of global music superstars, DJs, comedians and live performances, the British Grand Prix delivers a full festival experience that attracts fans of all ages from around the world.”
Motorsport UK CEO Hugh Chambers added: “Many congratulations to the F1 British Grand Prix on winning our Event of the Year award. This achievement recognises the years of work that have gone into building this world-class event and increasing attendance by more than 150,000 in just seven years. Silverstone is, and always will be, the home of British motorsport, and we’re proud to have such an iconic circuit just 18 miles from our headquarters, and at the heart of the UK motorsport industry.”
