Safeguarding Training

The Sport

Motorsport UK is committed to ensuring that our staff, volunteers and the wider motorsport community have appropriate training to enable them to support children, young people and adults at risk to participate in a safe, fair, fun and inclusive manner.

To assist you in your role, the Motorsport UK Safeguarding Team support the delivery of the following modules:

Safeguarding Awareness Course

The Safeguarding Awareness training is accessible from the learning hub and should be completed by all staff, officials and volunteers. This is a free online introductory course designed to improve understanding of safeguarding in motorsport. It includes details of some of the key indicators to look out for and what to do if you are worried or concerned.

In addition, there is a specified learning module for all Club Safeguarding Officers to complete. This acts as a precursor to the Introduction to Safeguarding in Motorsport training course running in 2026.

Introduction to Safeguarding in Motorsport

The new Introduction to Safeguarding in Motorsport training will take place online, facilitated by a Safeguarding Trainer and a member of the Motorsport UK Safeguarding Team.

Training Aims:

To provide all motorsport Officials, Marshals, Volunteers and Team Personnel with the knowledge and awareness to recognise, respond to and report safeguarding concerns, ensuring a safer environment for all our community.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of training, participants should be able to:

  • Understand what safeguarding means within a motorsport context
  • Recognise the signs and indicators of abuse and neglect
  • Understand their responsibilities for safeguarding within their roles
  • Know how to respond appropriately to safeguarding disclosures and concerns
  • Know how and when to report concerns within the Motorsport UK safeguarding structure
  • Understand motorsport specific risks

  • Club Committee Members
  • Team Managers & Team Personnel
  • Officials, Marshals and Volunteers
  • Those working within regulated activity / a regulated role

Marshal Training

If you are arranging a training day for Marshals and would like a short input delivered by the Motorsport UK Safeguarding Team please contact the team by emailing safeguarding@motorsportuk.org.

The team will work with you to provide an appropriate session that raises awareness of risks in the environment and the role of Marshals in addressing these.
