Festival of Speed adds to National Motorsport Week excitement

Tuesday 15 July 2025

This National Motorsport Week kicked off with a celebration of the worlds of Formula 1, endurance racing, WRC and MotoGP at Goodwood’s iconic Festival of Speed.

Motorsport UK’s Inclusion Hub was present during the entire weekend, bringing together complimentary organisations, within the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) space under Motorsport UK’s umbrella.

Nine of the Hub’s 27 member organisations joined the team during the weekend, during which hundreds of conversations were had with young people aged 14-24, around competing, volunteering and careers, with the Motorsport UK EDI team on hand to signpost them towards organisations that can help them to meet with their aspirations.

The Inclusion Hub can be viewed HERE.

On the Sunday, Goodwood concluded with a Timed Shoot-Out, with Romain Dumas returning to defend his honour from last year- taking 0.7 seconds off his time from last year aboard the Ford Supertruck.

A packed attendance at Goodwood House saw a celebration of F175 and the ultimate display of Grand Prix cars from throughout the years, including 1950 Alfa Romeo 158 Alfeta from the first ever World Championship via iconic machines like the Lotus 79 and Williams FW14B to more modern Alpine A523.

At the Forest Rally Stage, the evocative shape of the Lancia 037 was joined by Audi Quattros, Ford RS2000 Evos, Lancia Delta S4s and Peugeot 205s.

The Festival of Speed in 2025 paid particular attention to the 1990s and early 2000s, as Goodwood put on a special celebration of the 1995 World Rally Champion Colin McRae. A number of Subaru Imprezas, including several that McRae himself drove and won in, were joined on the stage by Ford Focuses, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Vis and Toyota Celicas.
