12 Days of StreetCar this 2025…
It’s been a busy year for Motorsport UK’s StreetCar programme, with even more opportunities for keen drivers to try out grassroots motorsport from behind the wheel of their everyday road car.
Here’s just some of the fantastic activities that our StreetCar Team have been up to this year…
StreetCar Disabled Driver’s Scholarship
This year, the Scholarship took place at three locations across the UK, opening up the opportunity for even more disabled participants.
The most promising drivers are offered an opportunity to win a fully funded season of AutoSOLOs and access to an adapted car, which this year was awarded at either Maidstone and Mid Kent Car Club, the Sporting Car Club of Norfolk or Loughborough Car Club.
A record 20 drivers took part in the StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship. Jack Stanton and Callum McCormick were the winners of the Scholarship during the event run by the Sporting Car Club of Norfolk, with 15-year-old Callum being the youngest recipient, with two recipients in Loughborough and one winner in Norfolk.
Claire Kirkpatrick, Director of Club and Volunteer Development, comments, “Our StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship returns in a format that not only engages with our clubs who are able to provide access to an adapted vehicle but also opens up this opportunity to even more disabled participants across the UK. We hope to welcome even more drivers into grassroots motorsport through the opportunity that this scholarship offers.”
A Family Affair
Andy Laurence is a long-time Autotest competitor, having started out in 2001 and even taking part in the second-ever AutoSOLO. In recent years however, he has brought his whole family into the world of grassroots motorsport, turning them into fully fledged StreetCar competitors.
That passion has naturally passed on to his children. His son Archie competed in his first event in 2024, just two days after turning 14. Daughter Immy soon followed, becoming the youngest AutoSOLO competitor in the country at age 13 when the minimum age was lowered in summer 2025.
The family often triple drive their car at events, with Archie and Immy having around 24 runs each day between them, and Andy adding another 12. The family’s motorsport progression is fuelled by their enjoyment of the events, “I get huge enjoyment every time they cross the finish line and they’re so happy to be competing,” Andy says. “It’s a buzz that goes all day long.”
Even more events for Sheffield & Hallamshire Motor Club
Sheffield & Hallamshire Motor Club, who celebrated their 120th anniversary in 2024, have built a strong reputation for organising Sprints and Single Venue Stage Rallies. It has been many years since they have organised a Production Car Trial, but through embracing the StreetCar initiative, this has now changed. On 28 September, the Club ran the “Easy Peasy Just For Fun” Production Car Trial on the outskirts of Sheffield.
A full entry of 22 cars was supported by marshals which enabled the day to flow freely and give the competitors more than the promised eight tests. Competitors joined the event from four surrounding clubs with a combination of new and old faces.
First Steps for the Next Generation
If you are familiar with the British Hill Climb Championship, then you will have no doubt heard of Scott Moran. Son of 1997 champion Roger, Scott himself is a 6-time British Championship winner and the most successful driver of all time in terms of Run-Off victories. Having stepped back from competing full-time at the end of 2024, he decided that it’s time to start turning his attention towards the next generation.
Scott’s son Ollie is 15 years old and has taken the first steps in his motorsport career in 2025, competing in StreetCar AutoSOLO’s with Cannock and District Car Club.
Ollie recently picked up his first piece of silverware, finishing 2nd Junior at the Get it Sideways StreetCar AutoSOLO at Curborough Sprint Course. “Hopefully the first of many!” said Ollie.
Clywd Vale Motor Club Continues to Support the Wider Community
Based in North Wales, Clwyd Vale Motor Club have 256 members and have run 16 events this year including Targa Rallies, Road Rallies, Car Trials and AutoSOLOs, which are enjoyed by many. They also care for the wider community by raising money for charity alongside their events and activities.
We asked Clwyd Vale what advice they would offer to other Clubs considering a similar initiative; “It gives us a great deal of pride to be able to say that a sport we both love and enjoy allows us to donate a reasonable amount of money to good causes, if you can then it’s a great thing to do with very little effort required.”
Festival Fun: StreetCar across the UK
On the 6 and 7 June StreetCar Festival travelled to Prescott Hill Climb for the first event of the year.
Sixty & Worcestershire Motor Club took charge of the AutoSOLO taster event as plenty of newcomers were introduced to StreetCar both taking part in their own road cars or experiencing the thrill of a passenger ride.
Stroud & District Motor Club utilised their expertise in Car Trialling to show the Hill Climb crowd a form of motorsport that they may not have been familiar to. Spectators were able to watch as both experts and novices negotiated the challenging terrain to complete as much of the course as possible in some treacherous conditions.
The event then headed to Wales, as over 3000 attendees joined Motorsport UK’s StreetCar Festival this past Sunday at Anglesey AutoFest, at the famed Trac Môn circuit.
With seven car clubs (Harlech and District Motor Club, Caernarvonshire and Anglesey Motor Club, North Wales Car Club, North Wales Land Rover Club, Rhyl and District Motor Club, Bala and District Motor Club and Liverpool Motor Club) present for the festival, with a Gymkhana, Tyro and Touring Assembly amongst some of the events on offer.
StreetCar Festival next popped up at Silverstone, introducing even more Circuit fans to motorsport..
Before, the final event of the year, heading north of the border to join Time Attack at one of Scotland’s most-loved circuits; Knockhill.
Keep an eye out for our 2026 plans…
