TotalEnergies named single supplier for WRC for three year term

Thursday 04 December 2025

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has announced the selection of TotalEnergies as the single supplier of sustainable fuel for the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) for a three-year term beginning in 2026.

In 2022, the FIA committed to a low-carbon future for the WRC, becoming the first FIA-sanctioned world championship to adopt sustainable fuel. Today’s announcement builds on that commitment, ensuring the long-term supply of sustainable fuel in the championship from 2026 onwards.

TotalEnergies brings established expertise in the development and delivery of sustainable fuels with successful programmes in several FIA World and Regional Championships and will use this experience to deliver a next generation racing fuel to the WRC for the next three years.

The FIA awarded the rights as single supplier to TotalEnergies. It will supply Excellium Rally AS, a 100% Advanced Sustainable* fuel made from non-food biomass. The fuel complies with the newly created FIA Appendix J Article 266 dedicated to Energy Regulation for Competition Vehicles and meets the requirements of Appendix J Article 252, reducing CO₂ emissions by at least 65%**.

This new fuel will be mandated for use by all FIA priority competitors and will be available to non-priority competitors, resulting in a more sustainable championship without compromising on performance.

Motorsport UK has voiced support for an ‘eclectic’ approach to the future of racing – envisioning a world powered by a mix of systems and fuels suited to different applications. Find out more
