ecoRally returns for 2026…
ecoRally Scotland – an event exclusively for electric vehicles – will return once again for 2026, taking place on 1-2 August across Tayside.
2025’s inaugural UK round of the Bridgestone FIA ecoRally Cup, the first FIA event to be based in Scotland for 14 years, saw 21 teams competing in a packed field of eight nationalities.
Dundee, the UK’s only UNESCO City of Design acted as the host of round eight of the 2025 Bridgestone FIA ecoRally Cup, with the city’s sustainable innovation credentials and Dundee City Council’s key role in delivering Scotland’s promise of a net-zero society by 2045 complimenting the event. As one of the UK’s leading EV cities, with 34% of fleet vehicles being electric and an extensive charging hub network for electric vehicles, the city will once again host the 2026 edition.
With set times for crews to complete each stage, points are awarded for every tenth of a second out, with the total calculated at day end.
Unlike regular rallying where pure speed makes the difference, competitors are judged on their consistency, precision and ability to manage the energy available in their car.
For Richard Crozier, Clerk of the Course, the event has been a truly special celebration of electric vehicles and Gaelic beauty, “Here in Scotland we are blessed with access to so many great roads, the event was about the showcasing of EV, and of Scotland. We are thrilled to have the 2026 event in the calendar and look forward to welcoming even more teams to Dundee next summer.”
Ian Smith, Technical Director, Motorsport UK, adds “Motorsport UK is thrilled to have ecoRally within our events calendar. Part of our remit is the promotion of an ‘eclectic’ approach to motorsport, and this event does just that, with the stellar range of electric marques competing during 2025. We would encourage anyone looking to enjoy an alternative type of motorsport, with Scotland providing a beautiful backdrop, to join us next summer.”
