One of the highlights of Motorsport UK’s Night of Champions 2026 at London’s Royal Automobile Club (24th January 2026) saw JOTA receive the prestigious Sir Malcolm Campbell Memorial Trophy.

The award is one of Motorsport UK’s most prestigious honours – awarded annually to an individual, team or organisation that has made an exceptional impact on British Motorsport through excellence, innovation or outstanding achievement. Previous recipients include some of the most influential names in the sport including McLaren Racing and Susie Wolff MBE. The accolade recognised JOTA’s standout performances in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Founded in 2000 by Sam Hignett and David Clark, JOTA has risen rapidly to become a powerhouse in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The team’s journey started with a humble Honda Integra at the Nürburgring 24 Hours and has since been marked by multiple Le Mans titles, earning JOTA a reputation as one of sports car racing’s most respected names.

In 2024, Hertz Team JOTA made history as the first independent team to win a WEC round in the Hypercar era – and the first British team to win a WEC race overall. That success propelled JOTA into its current role representing GM Cadillac in the WEC as a full factory-supported team with a driver line-up in 2025 including former F1 World Champion, Jenson Button and Motorsport UK Academy alumni, Alex Lynn, Will Stevens and Jack Aitken.

Speaking from Motorsport UK Night of Champions, David Richards, CBE and Chair, Motorsport UK said, “On behalf of Motorsport UK and everyone in our community, I extend our warmest congratulations to JOTA on being awarded our Sir Malcolm Campbell Memorial Trophy. The judging panel and I wished to acknowledge the team’s exceptional contribution to sports car racing over the past 26 years. This honour stands as a distinguished tribute to the entire team and the people within it. JOTA is wholly deserving of this prestigious recognition.”

JOTA also runs Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA, while its wider organisation includes JOTA Composites and JOTA Advanced Engineering, highlighting a commitment to pushing boundaries in both racing and technology.

After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025, JOTA is using the milestone as a springboard for the future, driving innovation and excellence further in motorsport.
