Final Countdown to new British Superkart season

Friday 21 May 2021

2021 is a new dawn for Superkarting in the UK, as Motorsport UK assumes the role of championship organiser and promoter for the British Superkart Championship.

The exciting, long circuit karting discipline provides some of the most fiercely competitive racing in British motorsport, and in 2021 the championship will be held over three race weekends. For those new to superkarting, the racing machines have to be seen to be believed, as drivers race round circuits across the country at speeds north of 120 mph, with drivers just inches off the ground.

The championship competitors will be unleashed at Mallory Park circuit in Leicestershire on 22 May, with a one-day shootout providing plenty of pulsating racing. A wide variety of karts will provide plenty of wheel-to-wheel action, from the Formula 125cc Open, F450 National, to F250 National and Division One. Following the visit to Mallory Park, the superkart stars will cross over to the picturesque Anglesey International Circuit in North West Wales (10-11 July). The two-day meeting will see the championship protagonists doing battle across the two days, as the championship order begins to take shape ahead of the championship curtain call.

It will all come down to the season finale, as the final positions for the Motorsport UK British Superkart Championship will be decided at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire (18-19 August). The high-speed roller coaster ride, which includes the infamous ‘Mountain’ jump, will separate the challengers from the champions, as the series’ titles are set to be decided on the legendary circuit.

With the season wrapped up, the gloves will then be off for the British Grand Prix at Donington Park on 25-26 September. Big grids across the four classes are expected, and it is hoped drivers from around Europe will join the fray at the Derbyshire venue, providing a true international flavour for the fabled Grand Prix.

Registrations and entries are open for the British Superkart Championship, with the closing date for the opening contest at Mallory Park (22 May). More information can be found at britishsuperkart.org
