Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Victory for Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) on a night where his and Max Verstappen (Red Bull)’s fight for the title reached boiling point as the first Formula 1 race in Jeddah resulted in two red-flag stoppages and three starts. Despite leaving Saudi Arabia on equal points, Verstappen goes into the final race as the championship leader on a win countback, which means Hamilton has to beat him to win his eighth world title.

Behind them, Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) took third from Esteban Ocon (Alpine) on the run into the final corner, giving Mercedes an extra boost in the constructor standings, capitalising on the second red flag incident which ended the race for Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.

FIA Formula 2 – Saudi Arabia

Oscar Piastri (PREMA) closed to within touching distance of taking the FIA Formula 2 title in his rookie season with another brace of victories on an eventful weekend of racing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

After a two-month hiatus, Australia’s rising star Piastri picked up where he left off at the championship summit, scoring an emphatic fourth consecutive pole position in qualifying. He cantered to victory in the second sprint contest, before winning a shortened Feature Race after several incidents, including a start-line crash between Theo Pourchaire and Enzo Fittipaldi; both were taken to a nearby hospital continue to recover with non-threatening injuries.

Therefore, the gap between Piastri and closest rival Guanyu Zhou sits at 51.5 points with 65 left on the table at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi, next weekend.
