Roger Albert Clark Rally heads back south of the border…
Day four of the Roger Albert Clark Rally saw the field head north of the border into the Kielder Forest along the Scottish borders. Treacherous weather and muddy trails made for a long-day of rallying for crews tackling the stages, with the final stage of the day, Special Stage 30, Newcastleton, being cancelled.
Crews were hampered by punctures, and it was bad news for Hollie Mcrae during her Rally debut behind the wheel, with her MINI crashing out due to treacherous conditions.
“We came over a crest and the rear of the car snapped out on the slush. We slid off the road to the right, and the car spun and hit a snowy ditch which flipped the car onto its roof.” She commented.
Heading into day five, Osian Price and Dale Furniss remain in the lead, with Paul Barrett and Gordon Noble 1.52 minutes behind.
Defending winner Martin McCormack and Barney Mitchell, on the notes, were close behind in third. McCormack and Mitchell remain in the lead in Category 4 in their BMW M3 E30.
With the final stages today and the ceremonial finish later this evening, here’s to another action-packed day of rallying.
