Shenington SuperPrix confirmed for National Motorsport Week
From 18-20 July, Shenington Circuit in leafy Oxfordshire, will once again be the backdrop for the SuperPrix, E Plate championship and Historic Revival, during the final weekend of National Motorsport Week.
Motorsport UK’s National Motorsport week is back for 2025, celebrating the sport that remains at the beating heart of Britain’s sporting psyche. Come rain or shine, events from grassroots levels upwards take place across the country – with Shenington offering a weekend of exciting kart action.
The 1018 metre circuit near Banbury, affectionally knowns as `Sheny`, will see karters take on famous corners such as Cafe Corner, the Bruno Chicane and the high-speed Hanger Corner. Shenington’ s fast and flowing but narrow layout is famed for its spectacular nose to tail racing, a common sight throughout Britain’s premier karting series.
The 2025 Shenington SuperPrix and Historic Revival on will again have the finals live streamed with sponsors logos by Alphalive. Drivers will be competing for the prestigious E Plate (the karting world’s English Champion) in the following classes: IAME Waterswift, Restricted, IAME Waterswift Intermediate, Junior X30, Senior X30, KZ2 and 210 National. Al race classes will still be available for entry and all count towards the club championship.
The format will be for practice on Saturday morning, then timed qualifying in the later afternoon, followed by two heats and a final over the remaining weekend. Friday practice is open to all normal classes, whether entered for the weekend or not.
Competitors in the E Plate classes (except for 210 and Waterswift Restricted) will be required to buy control slick tyres from the club to use in the racing.
E Plate winners in the IAME classes will receive a fully paid entry ticket for the IAME International World Finals, and positions 2nd to 4th will receive an Entry only ticket. The Libre winner (or if not meeting the age requirements, will move down the finishing order) will receive a “Masters” entry ticket with a fee to pay to participate. All podium places in all classes (subject to sufficient entries) will receive a Wera Tools prize and the KZ2 will receive a prize from Zip Kart.
Attendees can enjoy static displays of historic and classic karts, lovingly restored by their owners, with track displays also included in the programme. Live music and entertainment will take place across the weekend, with street food and a bouncy castle – so that the whole family can enjoy the weekend.
Shenington’s premier event of the year is sponsored by Zip Kart, John Mills Engineering, Wera tools and KartSim. The weekend will also be streamed on Youtube.
