The future of motorsport is changing. From fully-electric championships to sustainable fuels and alternative propulsion, these new technologies will safeguard the future of our sport, with Motorsport UK embracing these alternatives as part of a blended approach to innovation.
Dundee, the UK’s only UNESCO City of Design acted as the host of round eight of the 2025 Bridgestone FIA ecoRally Cup.
The city’s sustainable innovation credentials and Dundee City Council’s key role in delivering Scotland’s promise of a net-zero society by 2045 complimented the event, as one of the UK’s leading EV cities, with 34% of fleet vehicles being electric and an extensive charging hub network for electric vehicles.
A range of marques at both National and International level received their regulatory route 30 minutes prior, conquering the infamous ‘Dragon’ stage and stopping halfway on the route at famed Scottish motorsport venue Knockhill.
With set times for crews to complete each stage, points are awarded for every tenth of a second out, with the daily total calculated at day end.
The event saw 22 crews of eight different nationalities tackle a 320 mile (500km) route around Tayside, through breathtaking scenery and through stunning Scottish countryside.
About ecoRally
FIA ecoRally Scotland, was round eight of the 2025 Bridgestone FIA ecoRally Cup, the first Scottish-based event for 14 years.
This pioneering motorsport event, embraces innovation and is open to Electric Vehicles (EVs).
The 2025 ecoRally Scotland event saw teams of two (driver and navigator) and their Electric Vehicle, tackle a road route starting out from Dundee, navigating stunning scenery across the Tayside.
The event runs to the FIA EcoRally Cup rules, following the traditional Regularity Rally points system but also include points for efficient driving, with the amount of energy used measured by a FIA box and counted towards the overall scores.
Teams record all check points within the given times and complete ‘regularity tests’ checking average speed along the route – precision navigating, problem solving and teamwork will be the order of the day.
More information around the 2026 edition of the event will be shared shortly.
