The significant role Club100 has played in introducing newcomers to the thrills of competitive motorsport has been recognised, with founder John Vigor presented with the HRH Prince Michael of Kent Award of Merit at Motorsport UK’s Night of Champions.

Since its creation in 1993, Club100 has transformed grassroots karting in the UK by pioneering accessible, high-performance arrive-and-drive circuit racing, removing the traditional barriers of owning and maintaining a kart.

What began as a six-round sprint series at Buckmore Park has grown into a national institution, now featuring ten major championships across Cadet, Junior, Senior and university student categories. Events are held at many of the UK’s top venues.

Club100’s inclusive format has attracted a diverse and thriving community of competitors, from complete beginners to experienced racers, with all drivers competing in identical karts to emphasise skill and promote fairness. Even 1996 Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill has competed in a Club100 race.

World-beaters or not, hundreds of drivers regularly compete at Club100 events, boosting participation and providing a vital stepping-stone into Motorsport UK-licensed racing.

“I was genuinely flabbergasted. I’ve never won anything in my life, so to receive an award like this is incredibly special,” reflected John. I’m used to being the one interviewing people or presenting trophies, not standing here myself. It’s a huge honour and I’m truly grateful.”

Under John Vigor’s inspired leadership, Club100 has introduced thousands to the joys of competitive motorsport, enhanced driver development, and built a vibrant, welcoming racing community – a legacy fittingly recognised with the HRH Prince Michael Award of Merit.
