About Us
Go Motorsport... ....Go Sporting Trials
Affordable... Friendly... Great Sport... Great Fun
Sporting Trials involves special purpose-built cars, with a crew of two, negotiating a challenging and convoluted series of off-road uphill sections without stopping or hitting the course markers. It was a popular TV sport in the 1960's and 1970s featuring on BBC 'Grandstand'.
Most people outside the sport seem to know it as 'Hill Climbing', although that is actually a completely different branch of motorsport.
Northern Phoenix Trials Car Club (NPTCC) is based in Cumbria and is the largest dedicated sporting trials club in the UK. The Club runs its own championship of around 18 events a year and offers its members and guest competitors alike arguably the most scenic and challenging event venues to be found anywhere in the Country.
Our events season runs from January to December annually with a break in the summer.
Get Involved ... Marshal... Passenger... Drive...Compete... Get In-touch!
Email: info@nptcc.org.uk or visit the website: www.nptcc.org.uk
New Club members are always welcome with opportunities to marshal and passenger even if you don't yet own a car. New members are often struck by the friendliness and helpfulness of fellow members who are happy to lend a hand or offer advice to anyone unsure of what to do or in difficulties.
While the Cumbrian Fells provide the Clubs home ground, its annual programme of events takes in great locations in Yorkshire and Scotland too.
And, as well as running its own Championship events, Northern Phoenix also organises and hosts national championship rounds for the British Trial and Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA) and the Motor Sports Association (MSA). This means that Club members get to compete with and pick-up tips on their home ground from the top drivers in the Country.
Although motorsport carries inherent risks for participants, Northern Phoenix takes event safety very seriously as evidenced by its health and safety policies, procedures and practices. As a consequence has an excellent safety record which it requires all members to play their part in maintaining. Novice drivers and passengers are supported by experienced hands in the Club plus a series of guidelines and we provide free initial basic training for novice drivers, passengers and marshals before letting them loose on the hills.
Our event officials are selected for their experience and competence to set safe courses and ability to scrutinise competitors vehicles effectively to ensure they are safe to compete. And we have guidelines and check lists to support their activities as well as our marshals too.
We can also offer plenty of advice about getting started in trials and can help you find a car if you are thinking of starting out in the sport. Although, one of the best ways to get involved and learn the skills and techniques involved in the sport is to marshal at events or passenger.
If you'd like a taste of what this low cost but exhilarating motorsport has to offer simply get in touch via the contact panel on the home page of our website or by email: info@nptcc.org.uk to find out more. We look forward to hearing from you.

About Us
The club was founded in 1974 from two non-MSA (then) clubs, who decided they wanted to put road rallies..which they could not do.Both clubs amalgamated and formed PENDLE DISTRICT MOTOR CLUB,and ran there first restricted road rally in 1975 ,they went on to Join the ANCC and SD.34 and then the ANWCC and get there event in the championships. They continued running two road rallies each year until the road rally rules ceased to allow targa timing. The club then went on to pursue a stage rally at the newly available Ty_ Croes army camp, and have put an event on there for approximately 25 years we were the first club to have the newly allowed F1000 junior rally drivers.and now for the last 5 years have been included in the Motorsport / MSV stage rally championship. One of only two events were the circuit is not owned by the MSV group. In August we run a hillclimb only one of three clubs that runs events ..3 a year at Scammonden Hill Climb.Over the years a team of 3 people won the SHELL HELIX INTERCLUB MOTORSPORTS QUIZ CHALLENGE,Beating motor cubs from all over England to go to the finals at Shell house in London. We have organised Presentation nights and had such luminaries as Tim Harvey,Tim Sugden,Robbie Head,Alain Menu,Damon Hill,Denis Nursey ,Martin Short and Tony Jardine. Over the years, like most clubs we have suffered with not being able to recruit younger members to follow on with our illustrious years in Motorsport

About Us
Plymouth Motor Club promotes many forms of four wheeled motor sport, but this was not true in the early days of the Club, formed in 1908, several years before another South West Motor Club which claims to be the oldest in the region! It was then called the Plymouth and District Motorcycle Club, with membership almost exclusively made up of motorcyclists. It was after the First World War that car enthusiasts started to infiltrate the ranks of the two wheeled fraternity. Early events consisted mainly of road trial type events for both car and bike.
1952 saw Plymouth Motor Club and Cornwall Vintage Car Club forming a partnership - Cornwall Motor Racing Ltd. - to promote racing at the Davidstow circuit in Cornwall. During the short career of this circuit, it hosted Cornwalls sole Formula 1 race meetings until 1955. One of the many reasons for the demise of this circuit was the bad weather.
In the modern Club, it would be fair to say that Rallying, Sprinting, Speed Hillclimbs and Marshalling are the main diet of the Club. We run our Speed Hillclimb at Werrington Park near Launceston the longest and fastest hillclimb in the Southwest on the first weekend (bank holiday) in May each year & we are also a partner in the 5 Clubs Wiscombe meeting held in September. We are also a Partner Club for the Closed Road Watergate Sprint held near Newquay in Cornwall in September.
In the past couple of years Sprinting has been making a comeback. Plymouth Motor Club last promoted sprints in the sixties & the circuit used then is now under the local council rubbish tip! We also organise and assist in the organisation of several local stage rallies & run a 12 car rally series to encourage our members who are new to the sport.
Our members compete or officiate in most disciplines, at all levels & with varying degrees of success. In 2024 we are hoping to again organise Autotests, both on grass and tarmac, when a new venue can be found,
Also, more aimed at the clubman, we offer Scatter Rallies and Treasure Hunts.
