About Us

Wakefield and District Motor Sports Club (W&DMSC) was formed in 1934. Initially the club tended to concentrate on motor cycle events. Its former President, Denis Parkinson, is a past TT (Isle of Man Tourist Trophy) winner.

Through the 1930's W&DMSC members competed many times on the Manx TT. And in 1937 and 1938 Wakefield carried off the team prize.

Through the fifties and sixties W&DMSC got involved in motor cycle scrambling; organising many events locally which attracted many international stars. Through the seventies the club attracted more and more members with an interest in cars until in the mid eighties the motor cycle membership tailed off to nil.

Like many motor clubs Wakefield has had its ups and downs at present Wakefield and District Motor Sports Club's current membership's main focus is on car based motor sport, particularly rallying. Of our current Membership, over half the club is competing or involved in a 'hands-on' way with preparation or running of cars on events, some racing and marshalling on rallies.

We organise a Club Championship, designed so that anyone with a standard road car can compete. The events include autotests and car trials in the summer with the occasional navigational test during the winter. The championship rounds are normally run on the second Wednesday of every month.

Club members meet every Wednesday evening from about 8.30 pm onwards for an informal natter at The Plough Inn. Warmfield Lane Normanton. WF1 5TL. Map reference 104/373211
Unless there is a club event is running.

About Us

Warrington & District Motor Club's origins date back to 1928 when Warrington Motor Club was first recognised by the RAC. Back in those days it was very much a combined car and motorcycle club. More recent history shows that the club became Enville motor club in the late 1950's or early 1960's, named due to its hub on Enville Street in Warrington town centre. The club finally became known as Warrington & District Motor Club (WDMC) in the early 1970's.

WDMC is a strong and evolving club. We are well represented at weekly club nights. A group of regulars enjoy nothing more than a couple of pints and to share tales of their automotive exploits, projects and dreams. We have a core of members who are passionate about all forms of motorsport. In our ranks are many highly experienced marshals, radio crew, time keepers and rally organisers. We have members competing in rallies around the UK and beyond, from road rallies to single-venue and multi-venue rallies. In recent years we have had members competing successfully in major UK and European championships.

WDMC is responsible for holding the Enville Stages, a single-venue sealed surface rally, which in recent years has made Trac Mon in Anglesey its home. We are proud to be a club capable of organising such a successful event.

The club is also heavily involved in the running of the Legend Fires North West Stages, a multi-venue sealed surface event, with its headquarters in Blackpool. The Legend Fires North West Stages is a highly renowned event, with strong entries travelling from far and wide to take part in this unique and challenging rally.

WDMC organises regular navigation scatter events, lighthearted club nights and provides marshalling teams for stages on major rallies such as the Cambrian Rally and Lombard Revival. We also put together displays for local events such as the Oulton Park Gold Cup and the Cholmondeley Pagent of Power.

WDMC meets at around 20.30 every Tuesday at The Cock @ Budworth Pub, Warrington Rd, Budworth, Northwich on the A559 between Warrington and Northwich. The post code of the pub is CW9 6HB.
WDMC has a good membership and encompasses a broad age range.

We run 3 championships which are:-

Rally Championship:-
Our club runs its own inter club championship.
We also run Autotest/autosol at Wern Ddu Quarry near Corwen on the A494

Clubman Championship:-
This is a varied championship usually run on a Tuesday night. We hold Scatter Rallies, Table Top Rallies, Quizzesand scalextric nights etc.

Marshals' Championship:-
