About Us

A BRIEF PROFILE

BRMC is a small but active motor club based in the heart of West Sussex. The club was founded back in 1950 by a small group of enthusiasts, with the aim of pomoting various forms of motor sport. Drawing its membership from all over West Sussex and beyond the club welcomes anybody with an interest in motoring and/or motor sport at all levels.

BRMC is registered with the MSA and is a member of "The Association of Central Southern Motor Clubs" (ACSMC). As part of its membership of these bodies, the club oraganises various events throughout the year in many areas of motor sport. Principal events each year include: a sprint held at Goodwood mtor circuit and an Historic Road Rally held around the lanes of West Sussex

MEMBERSHIP ACTIVITIES

Club members are active in all branches of motor sport, including Autotest, Speed (sprint and hillclimb), Race and Rally disciplines. Advice is always available for novice competitors. During the summer, the club is fortunate in having access to land, which permits us to run non-damaging grass Autotests. Both the 12 cars and the autotests are low budget events, allowing members to compete in a friendly and helpful environment We also encourage youngsters to compete, by having the Autotests on private land, enabling anyone over the age of sixteen to learn the required skills in a safe environment.

MARSHALS REQUIRED

Motor sport in general relies on a keen and enthusiastic band on volunteers. Without organisers and marshals we would have no events to compete on. The club prides itself on the willingness of members to support both its own events and other clubs events. Club members regularly turn out to marshal on a variety of events.

SOCIAL EVENTS

BRMC`s activites are not totally geared toward motor sport. Through the year a varied calendar of events are arranged. These vary through Skittles, Christmas Parties, Treasure Hunts, Orienteering and Scatters.

Bournemouth & District Car Club

Club Information

Member Type Motor Club
Year Club Established 1984
Activities Autotests, Marshalling, Rallying, Sprints

About Us

Bournemouth & District Car Club offers a range of Motorsport events in the Dorset area throughout the year, which are suitable for both novice and experienced competitors and also volunteer Marshals.
The Club has a diverse membership, and continues to successfully encourage new members of all ages. Whilst The Clubs social calendar has been curtailed recently, the website is regularly updated, there is a monthly “bulletin” distributed by email, and an active social media presence.
Entry level Motorsport is provided by Production Car Autotests, some on smooth grass fields, others on tarmac, but all offering the chance to drive at your own limit, over a set course in non damaging conditions. These are ideal events for beginners, although many of our more experienced drivers take part, to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and great value for money. Suitable for ordinary road cars and not requiring any modifications. Offering a full day of competition for a £40 entry fee Autotests are probably the cheapest form of Motorsport available and are great fun!
Twice a year a Sprint is held at the Clay Pigeon circuit near Dorchester. A timed speed event over the compact and challenging tarmac course. Suitable for novice or experienced drivers, there is a class for almost every type of car from standard unmodified “shopping” cars through to specialist single seaters running slick tyres and wings. Basic safety equipment is required such as helmet, racing overalls and gloves. During the day competitors usually have the opportunity of five timed runs on the course.
Two of the Clubs largest events are Single Venue Tarmac Stage Rallies held at a large test site in Dorset which was recently described as the UK version of the famous Nürburgring. The site provides opportunity for competitors to drive at speed on special stages round the network of smooth roads. Rally cars of all types, including Historic, Clubmans or specialist 4 wheel drive are eligible, with crews traveling from all over the UK to compete. The event is supported by a large contingent of volunteer marshalls, timekeepers, radio crew and officials, many of whom are Club Members.
The Club does have a great reputation for providing well organized, good value “Grass Roots” events. The Committee are all active competitors and keen to welcome new ideas.

Club Information

Member Type Motor Club
Year Club Established 1971
Activities Autotests, Marshalling, Rallying, Sprints

About Us

The club was formed in 1971 and has grown to become a very active organisation involved in many forms of motorsport. Prospective members, as well as old friends of the club, are welcome at any club night. We meet every FIRST Wednesday evening from 21:00hrs. at The LIDO CLUB, 58 School Rd., NORTON CANES, CANNOCK, STAFFS. WS11 9SQ

Over the past couple of years we have run some very successful AutoTests & AutoSolos for the BTRDA championships, attracting competitors from all over the UK. We also have a very active group of members who regularly assist other clubs in the organisation of Stage Rallies and Autotests / AutoSolos in the form of marshalling.

One of the highlights of the CDCC calendar is the clubs annual Awards evening. This is usually held every February and the awards cover every discipline, two of the most prestigious being ‘Driver’ and ‘Clubman of the year’.

Motorsport we are involved in

Stage Rallies;

This is at present the most popular discipline within the club. Rallies take the form of single venue events held on airfields right through to multi venue forest events. Culminating in international events such as British Rally Championship and World Rally Championship events. In recent years the club has enjoyed considerable success in the AWMMC Heart of England Rally Championship.

Servicing

If spanners are your thing then you could join one of the CDCC teams on an event. Enjoy being part of a team and help keep the car in the event despite the drivers best efforts to break it. Lots of fun without the bills!

Autotests / Autosolos

Easily described as driving as quickly as you can around a set of cones. Autotests are an excellent way to push your car control skills to the limit and best of all, you can use any car with little preparation needed. In an Autotest you will have a passenger on-board to give you directions, whereas with an AutoSolo, there is no one but yourself to blame if you receive the dreaded Wrong Test!! Currently we organise 6 "StreetCar" AutoSolo events @ Curborough Sprint Course, combining these events into a "Wheelspin StreetCar Series."

Sprinting

Sprinting has been popular within recent years. Club members have competed in Midlands and other regional championships at venues as far a field as Goodwood in the south and Aintree near Liverpool. Sprinting is closely related to the discipline of Hillclimbing

Marshaling

What would we do without them? "Not a lot" is the answer! Marshals are essential to the running of any event, be it a club level Autotest right the way up to a WRC stage! Many of our active competitors marshal when they are not competing. As a club, we regularly provide marshals to the organisers of events. The club benefits from having some very experienced marshals within its ranks who are only to happy to pass on their experience to potential new marshals. So if you want to see what Motor Sport is all about give our chief marshal call or e-mail, it`s fun to do and you see a lot more and get involved in how it all works.
