Motorsport UK British Sporting Trials Championship – Mid-Season Review

Thursday 15 May 2025

Thomas Bricknell’s good form has continued with seven wins from eight events in his trusty Crossle 80T. Events have been well spread across the country with rounds from Kent to Cumbria featuring a variety of surfaces, from chalky woods to bracken, grass and mud.

Top of the new Live Axle Championship is Alan Carr with some fine performances in his Sherpa. Bob Packham closing the gap with two wins over the weekend. Sporting trialling resumes in September after its annual summer break and the three events in eight could be pivotal in this year’s title chase.

Season Review:

Round 1 Feb 16: Thomas takes the win on 47 marks to John Firth’s 62.

Round 2 March 2: Thomas 27, narrowly ahead of Andy Wilks on 31.

Round 3 March 16: Josh Veale takes the honours with 6 penalties ahead of Thomas Bricknell and Boyd Webster tied on 9.

Round 4 March 29: Thomas back on top with 1 mark lost. Simon Kingsley second on 8.

Round 5 March 30: Scores stay low with Tom winning on 2 marks from Bill Rhodes on 10.

Round 6 April 13: Thomas wins on 12 from Stuart Beare on 19.

Round 7 May 4: John Firth takes an early lead in the bluebell strewn woods but finishes second on 30 to Tom on 24. Richard Sharp back in action finishes a strong third on 31.

Round 8 May 5: Tom Bricknell and star passenger Beth Carroll triumph on 20 marks from Simon Kingsley & Sara Dyer 27 and Richard & Joe Sharp 28.

The Cumbrian double header at the iconic Gale Hall, Melmerby, high on the fells above Penrith remains the most enjoyable event for all drivers involved. A unique challenge of grass, bracken and peaty slime with incredible views towards the northern peaks of the Lake District.
