Testing Procedure

Who can be tested?

Anybody affiliated to Motorsport UK and participating in a competition under the MSA’s sanction may be subject to the testing programme.

Selection process for testing in-competition

UKAD, in conjunction with Motorsport UK or FIA, determines which competitors are tested. Selection is based on the following criteria:

  • Placing in the event (e.g. 1st, 2nd or 10th)
  • Discipline, category or round
  • Pre-selected (target) testing
  • Qualifying for national representation.

Testing

‘In-Competition’ testing is testing conducted during a sporting event. This is the type of testing that is most common in our sport but any registered Motorsport UK athlete can be tested at any time, including at their home or training, known as ‘out of competition’.

Visit the UKAD website for more information on testing procedures.

Sample Collection

UKAD follows the International Standard for Testing and Investigations (ISTI). UKAD’s Doping Control Personnel work in conjunction with the Motorsport UK Anti-Doping Officer. Samples are sent to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory at King’s College, London. To read more about the international standards click here.
