StreetCar shares motorsport opportunities with Wiltshire College students

Wednesday 18 June 2025

Representatives from Motorsport UK’s StreetCar programme visited Wiltshire College, with the support of the Bath Motor Club and past scholars from StreetCar’s Disabled Driver Scholarship this month, showcasing the opportunities available within motorsport to students.

The StreetCar programme enables anyone to get behind the wheel of their car and enjoy grassroots motorsport, by joining an event at their local motor club or through volunteering opportunities within motorsport, providing real life experience of events management and logistics.

Alan Wakeman from Bath Motor Club shared the different motorsport disciplines available to try at entry-level, while Joe and James Russell spoke about their father-son involvement in motorsport after taking part following the StreetCar Disabled Driver’s Scholarship in 2024.

The students were also joined by World Rally Championship navigator, Ross Whittock, who shared his own personal experiences.

Elise Whyte, StreetCar Club Development Coordinator, comments, “Our college visits provide an ideal opportunity to engage with new audiences and inspire them to get involved in StreetCar. The programme showcases how easy and affordable it is to get involved in grassroots motorsport, no matter how early you are in your career.”
