Purple Sectors Joins Wera Tools British Kart Championships at Kimbolton
Purple Sectors, an initiative set up by Chris McCarthy to raise money for national charity, Young Epilepsy will be at the Wera Tools British Kart Championships during the August Kimbolton round, providing media training and guidance for drivers.
Neil Cole, host and seasoned figure within motorsport, will be at track to deliver media training sessions joined by commentator and Purple Sectors host Chris McCarthy, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the motorsport media landscape from a well-known name in the industry.
The free 30-minute sessions will include an introduction to how TV and journalism work, interview guidance and techniques, practical exercises and general support around social media and next steps.
Speaking ahead of the event, Neil Cole said: “Helping young competitors understand the value of working with the media and journalists is a crucial part of the development of their racing career. We’re offering an introductory masterclass, and some practical tips, so they’ll be ready to handle interviews and other elements of the spotlight. For many, it is a scary and unknown world – and it absolutely doesn’t need to be.”
Purple Sectors founder, Chris McCarthy said: “Thanks to the fantastic work of Motorsport UK and Alpha Live, coverage of the Wera Tools British Kart Championships has become more extensive than ever before. Media training sessions like this are invaluable for the drivers and I’m very excited to help make this happen alongside Neil. Karting and its community gave so much to me over the years so I’m looking forward to now giving back when we go to Kimbolton.”
Dan Parker, Head of Karting, Motorsport UK adds, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with Purple Sectors, providing valuable media guidance for drivers who are just starting on their career. Many of these young drivers already feel at ease in front of the camera, but these sessions will help take that confidence to the next level and give them the tools to communicate even more effectively. I am sure that the sessions will be well received and look forward to seeing drivers putting this newfound knowledge into practice.”
