A Thank you to UK motorsport’s volunteer community
It is with enormous gratitude that we extend our thanks to the community of volunteer officials for your commitment and dedication in delivering a truly memorable 2024 FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS BRITISH GRAND PRIX.
We are immensely proud and grateful for the longstanding contribution all our volunteers give to motorsport. Not just on the day, but all the hours that you invest in ensuring that you are appropriately experienced and qualified to support the event. To put it simply, the British Grand Prix would not be possible without your hard work.
Silverstone and the British Grand Prix is the jewel in the crown of the British summer’s sporting calendar and takes an enormous amount of effort to organise and deliver year on year. Despite the challenges with weather, come rain or shine, the unbounding enthusiasm of all volunteers ensures the spectacle is a continued success and we appreciate every moment you give to our sport.
The volunteers are at the heart of the British Grand Prix, and will continue to be for many years to come. You ensured a memorable experience for the drivers, the hundreds of thousands in attendance and the millions watching around the world.
This year’s Grand Prix was special and will go down as one of the all-time great Silverstone races. After the first British top three in F1 qualifying at Silverstone it was instantly ready to become a classic, and Sir Lewis Hamilton delivered a performance fitting of a seven-time World Champion. Lando Norris came agonisingly close to the second spot on the podium and were it not for a water system issue for George Russell, we might just have had a British 1-2-3.
The UK’s motorsport volunteer community are world renowned, highly regarded and uphold the integrity of our sport. It’s been incredible to see the work delivered by teams within their respective areas of expertise. From those in medical, track safety, welfare, incident and recovery and race control to the senior officials, sweepers, scrutineers and track, grid, paddock and incident marshals, you all made an invaluable contribution and should rightly feel very proud.
On behalf of everyone at Motorsport UK and Silverstone, we are incredibly thankful to you for your time and dedication. You raised the standard and helped put on an amazing show.
