Britpart BXCC battle goes down to the wire at Walters Arena

Tuesday 05 October 2021

The Britpart British Cross Country Championship (BXCC) heads to Walters Arena in South Wales next weekend for the final round. And it’s all to play for in the championship decider.

After winning the previous rounds at Sweet Lamb and Kielder, Adrian Marfell and Paul Bartleman top the leaderboard with 171 points. Richard and Mason Kershaw are just five points behind, closely followed by Paul Rowlands and Neil Lloyd in third on 151. Dave and Antony Hooper finished third in Kielder, their best BXCC result, which places them fourth in the driver standings, with current champion Justin Birchall trailing by a point in fifth.

The championship title is decided on the best three scores from four rounds. Marfell and Bartleman are in a solid position to take to the title with two wins and a third-place finish under their belts. However, a win at Walters would see the Kershaws crowned championships, having secured a win and second place position this season.

In the BXC Trophy Championship, which takes place at three of the four BXCC rounds, Tom and Alice Jones lead the way on 172 points, ahead of Harry Nicoll and Emily Sibley on 157.
