BTCC to Brands
Reigning Champion Colin Turkington leads the 2020 British Touring Car Championship into Brands Hatch this weekend (8-9 August).
The Northern Irishman holds a slim six-point-lead over Honda’s Dan Cammish following a successful opening weekend at Donington Park.
The Leicestershire venue played host to the first-three rounds of the revised 2020 championship as BMW’s Turkington wasted no time in asserting his dominance, topping the timesheets during practice and qualifying. A second-place finish in the opening bout spurred him on to secure a race win in the second outing.
Last year’s championship runner-up, Cammish, took to the top-step of the podium for the opening race before struggling with his ballast-laden Civic for the rest of the day. He’ll be keen to return to the podium this weekend and overtake Turkington in the points standings.
2017 Champion Ashley Sutton sits third in the championship standings and will be looking to continue where he left off after a dominant opening weekend at Donington. The 26-year-old set the fastest laps in all three of last weekend’s races on his way to collecting a win in the final round.
