Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen (Red Bull) could be crowned Formula 1 World Champion this weekend with an 18-point swing over closest rival Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in the first-ever Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Held on the brand-new Jeddah Corniche Circuit, the floodlit event marks the second in a triple-header of races based in the Middle East to decide the destiny of this season’s enthralling title race.
Hamilton arrives with the momentum having secured back-to-back victories at Interlagos and last time out in Qatar, the margin to Verstappen now a slender 8 points, with 52 still on the table between now and the season’s conclusion.
If the Brit can successful overhaul Verstappen’s lead, held since the Hungarian Grand Prix in the summer, it would make Hamilton a record-breaking eight-time World Champion.
Up and down the paddock, tributes continue to pour in for the late Sir Frank Williams, and Britain’s George Russell will be aiming to mark the occasion with another strong outing for Sir Frank’s eponymous team.
Fellow Motorsport UK Academy alumnus Lando Norris continues to mirror the McLaren-Ferrari scrap in the Constructors standings with a battle of his own for fifth outright with Charles Leclerc, the Monegasque now just one adrift.

Formula 2 – Saudi Arabia
After a two month hiatus, Formula 1’s premier feeder category returns to action this weekend as recently-confirmed Alpine reserve driver Oscar Piastri looks to take another step towards securing the coveted crown.
Mark Webber’s protégé arrives in the Middle East with a 40-point advantage over closest challenger Guanyu Zhou, the latter recently confirmed as part of Alfa Romeo’s Formula 1 line-up for 2022.
Robert Schwartzman, Britain’s Dan Ticktum and Theo Pourchaire all remain in within a shout of lifting the title come the end of the season, but with six rounds remaining will need to stake a claim around the high-speed, sweeping 6.1km circuit.
