Jessica Alexander crowned Senior Prokart champion at Warden Law
Jessica Alexander not only landed the accolade of being the Senior Prokart champion at the Warden Law Kart Club, Spring Series Championship, but she is also the first openly trans woman to win a Motorsport UK championship.
A Racing Pride Karting Ambassador and champion at Warden Law and at the British Endurance Series in 2023, Jessica is a trailblazer for inclusivity and supporting the LGBT+ community in UK motorsport.
She comments, “To anyone from the LGBT+ community, to anyone who wants to get involved in this sport, you are welcome, there is a community for you, and you can not only be involved – but be successful.
The Warden Law Spring series has been amazing this year, the paddock has had an amazing buzz about it, the racing has been brilliant, and the circuit is up there with the best in the country.
The atmosphere around the championship has been super welcoming, it’s a testament to the work that Motorsport UK have done in conjunction with the wider community to encourage everyone to feel comfortable being themselves. It’s the kind of atmosphere I wish had been around when I started racing, and I truly hope that anyone in this sport feels like they does feel can be themselves. We are now in a position where there are some incredible role models and support networks for anyone who wants to be involved in motorsport in the UK.”
This Pride Month, Motorsport UK have created and prepared a variety of resources for Clubs to celebrate pride with their members and their community. From social media wording, to templates, to graphics for stickers you can get produced, you can use these resources to show your Club’s support for the LGBTQ+ community, which can be accessed here.
