Meet the Marshals: Joseph Redman
Joseph, a cadet marshal at Thruxton, signed up for a taster day with BARC during the first race of the season this year – following a ‘nudge’ by his dad. He’s just one of the thousands of volunteers who we will be celebrating this National Motorsport Week – celebrating our vibrant community across the UK, and the many ways you can get involved in our sport.
“It was great fun being shown around and seeing how everything works. That took about half the day, and the rest was for me to marshal. I picked it up rather quickly and was then asked to help with marshalling cars around the paddock. Then, it was onto the next day.”
After packing, possibly too many, pork pies, Joseph was soon ready for race day. He soon found out just how important the role of a marshal is for keeping the event running smoothly.
“Marshals are such a great bunch of people, all so friendly and funny too, with a good eye for cars. If you have been considering it, join us. We need you! We don’t have enough marshals globally, and Motorsport UK marshals are the best in town.”
