Motorsport UK unpacks sim racing ahead of the British Grand Prix
The growth of eSports has had a positive influence on the various pathways to motorsport in recent years, regularly capturing the imagination of the future drivers hoping to fly the flag for Britain at some of the country’s most iconic racing circuits such as Silverstone, the home of British Motor Racing.
And as the countdown to the 2021 FIA Formula 1 British Grand Prix gets underway, drivers from all disciplines, including those racing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and W Series support events, will use the simulator to test different car set ups and race strategies to gain a competitive advantage ahead of lights out.
But how much can a simulator really help a driver’s racing instinct? And what happens when James Baldwin, 2019 World’s Fastest Gamer, goes up against Johnathan Hoggard, Motorsport UK Academy Driver, in a head-to-head one lap race at Silverstone?
