The best in the world; Thank you to the UK Motorsport’s volunteer community

Monday 10 July 2023

We are incredibly proud to extend our thanks and gratitude to our volunteer community for their commitment and dedication in delivering the FORMULA 1 ARAMCO BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2023.

The volunteer community in British motorsport sets the benchmark on the Formula 1 calendar. Highly regarded internationally, every member of the 960 strong team this year epitomised the highest standards expected in support of the world’s best drivers.

The British Grand Prix is a special event for all involved. Steeped in history, it is a mainstay on the annual F1 and British motorsport calendar at a venue that drivers, officials, teams and spectators always look forward to.

With the Ashes and Wimbledon competing for eyeballs over the weekend, nothing quite compares to the excitement and energy that a capacity crowd at Silverstone brings. Their passion for our sport is unrivalled and once again helped break new ground as the British Grand Prix made history, welcoming a record 480,000 people over the weekend.

Without the many and varied volunteer roles, the event simply couldn’t happen. From our track, grid, paddock and incident marshals, to medical teams, sweeper, incident and recovery teams, track safety, welfare, race control and senior officials none could fulfil their roles without the support of all the others.

The organisation and delivery of the British Grand Prix takes many hours from a significant number of people to ensure its success. There is always so much we learn each year as we strive to make the experience the best it can possibly be, we will continue to listen, learn and make improvements year on year.

Our community of volunteers were at the heart of the event, and it simply would not be possible to put on an amazing show for thousands in attendance and millions worldwide without that support.

We are immensely proud and grateful for the longstanding contribution and commitment all our volunteers display and give to motorsport. You ensured the success of a ground-breaking British Grand Prix and it would not be possible without your hard work.

You put your hearts into delivering your roles, in amongst early starts and late finishes and we simply cannot thank you enough.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Silverstone in the future and wish you all the best for the remainder of the 2023 motorsport season.

Yours sincerely,

Hugh Chambers
