A statement from Motorsport UK Safeguarding Team

Friday 10 March 2023

Motorsport UK are aware that a case is scheduled to take place at Bournemouth Crown Court in relation to alleged sexual offences said to have occurred between 2000 and 2005 by a person in a position of trust within the Karting community.

Due to the criminal proceedings we are unable to comment on the actions of the person concerned as it is important that we allow any trial to continue fairly.

Motorsport UK fully understand that our community may be concerned about this news. Immediately the Police notified us of the investigation (in 2021) the Motorsport UK Safeguarding Team worked with statutory organisations to manage ongoing risks within the sport under our control. Motorsport UK immediately suspended all licences and prohibited the person from working, volunteering and/or attending at any Motorsport UK Permitted Event while the investigation was ongoing and that remains the position.

The safety and wellbeing of our community continues to be Motorsport UK’s highest priority. If you are worried about the behaviours of those involved in motorsport (regardless of when actions may have occurred) please contact the Safeguarding Team. Information and support for victims of abuse can be found on the following webpages:  https://www.motorsportuk.org/the-sport/safeguarding/
