Craigantlet as BHC opener following Prescott postponement
The Patterson Electronics Hytera UAC Craigantlet Hill Climb will host the opening two rounds of the prestigious Motorsport UK Nova Tyres British Hill Climb Championship (BHC).
Poor weather saw the opening round, scheduled to take place at Prescott earlier this month, postponed due to poor weather, with the meeting now scheduled for 17-18 August 2024.
The BHC, which pre-dates every other British motorsport championship, will see F1 style single seaters, capable of speeds exceeding 150 mph on the Wharton Straight, competing on the hill.
The Northern Ireland event is also round two of the Motorsport Supplies ANICC Hill Climb Championship, with a great day of sport planned for 4 May, during the Bank Holiday weekend.
Craigantlet will be the setting for current title holder Wallace Menzies, in his GR59-M Gould, to see if he can continue his record equalling run of form against a talent fuelled entry list that also includes long-term rival, Alex Summers, in his DJ Firestorm.
Menzies joined Ken Wharton (1951-54) as the winner of four consecutive Championship victories last season. Twelve run-off wins, with new outright records at both Val des Terres in Guernsey, and Wiscombe Park, showed Wallace’s class in 2023.
Clerk of the Course for the event, Wilson Carson, commented, “The hard work of my team has resulted in a marvellous combination of cross channel and local entries consisting of the crème de la crème of British Hill Climbers.”
